Founded in 2011 by Director Amanda Leandro, Cosmopolitan Arts has ignited the cultural scene in Leicester starting with the Cosmopolitan Arts Festival (formerly Cosmopolitan Carnival), which has been thrilling audiences with its explosive live music, captivating dance, mesmerising street theatre, and awe-inspiring art every year since. In 2017, we were thrilled to take charge of the Leicester Chinese New Year celebrations, turning the city centre into a kaleidoscope of cultural wonders. From dazzling decorations to spellbinding performances, we wanted to immerse the public in the joyous spirit of this momentous cultural celebration. And that's not all! In 2023, Cosmopolitan Arts achieved the prestigious Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) status, awarded by Arts Council England (ACE). This milestone fuels our commitment to promoting and celebrating Leicester's diverse arts and cultures. We've also dedicated ourselves to nurturing Leicester's youth, introducing budding talents to a variety of creative disciplines, and fuelling their artistic passions. We've collaborated with ethnic groups in Leicester, delving into cultural heritage, identity, and the pervasive impact of racism in their daily lives. We pride ourselves on being a beacon of inclusivity, creativity, and the transformative power of the arts. So come and join us on this exciting journey as we celebrate diversity and embrace the radiant tapestry of Leicester's cultural landscape.
